Cultural Walking Tour

Hidden in Plain Sight: A Guided Walking Tour of Aboriginal Sydney

Sunday 21 September 2025
12.30pm - 2.00pm

To look at central Sydney it would be easy to think that all trace of the original people of this place, the Gadigal, are long gone. This fascinating guided walking tour will show how wrong that is.

Whether you are a Sydneysider or first time visitor, cultural educator Mike Butler will show how Aboriginal Sydney is still here for those who choose to see it.

By shining a new light on Sydney, you will hear stories of the Gadigal, see how people lived and learn how Aboriginal culture has adapted and continues to live with this rare opportunity to connect with Sydney through the lens of Australia’s first peoples.

Tour Highlights:

  • The Dreamtime creation stories of Sydney.
  • The importance of the Gadigal people within it.
  • Life before and during colonisation.
  • The truth is more nuanced and complex than it looks.
  • Aboriginal perspectives on statues, places and memory.
