Her Name is Nanny Nellie is a feature length documentary, produced with the assistance of the Australian Museum. Her Name is Nanny Nellie offers us the rare privilege of bearing witness to a family reclaiming their history. After the screening, hear from Daniel King, Irene Ridgeway and Dr Mariko Smith in a panel interview.
Talanoa and Protocols
Location: Humffray Room, Ballaarat Mechanics’ Institute
Experience a traditional Fijian kava ceremony. Protocols for seeking permission to research and collect cultural information from Pasifika nations with a focus on Fiji, will be shared and demonstrated in this session. It will feature a presentation on how the Australian Museum incorporated indigenous Pasifika methods of research, insight into traditional protocols for seeking permissions and consent, alongside engaging traditional storytelling, chanting, singing and a large tanoa (bowl) of kava.
