Julie Hobbs

Julie is an experienced creative practitioner and consultant with a deep commitment to the transformative power of education and skills development across all stages of a working life. A range of cultural leadership roles, including as National President of the Design Institute of Australia has provided Julie with the opportunity to advocate for the creative industries and for the contribution they make to economic growth and diversification, innovation, social cohesion, and inclusivity. 

Julie is currently the Chief Executive Officer of FutureNow which is the West Australian industry skills council for the creative, leisure and technology sectors. FutureNow is a not-for-profit organisation that provides government, industry, and the community with independent strategic workforce advice about all the industries under its remit. It is within this context that FutureNow works with the galleries, museums, heritage, and libraries sectors to establish current and emerging workforce development needs and to influence solutions.  Julie is also member of the National Industry Reference Committee responsible for the development of museum and galleries qualifications within the vocational education and training sector.
