Medical Director
Dr Ruotsi is the Medical Director of the Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York. He is board certified in Wound Care by the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery, and in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He is additionally certified as a Wound Specialist-Physician (CWS-P) by the American Board of Wound Management and as a Diving Medical Officer (DMO) by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Dr Ruotsi is a Founding Diplomate and sits on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Wound Medicine and Surgery. He was a two-term member of the Board of Directors of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) and served as chair of its Education Committee from 2020-2022 and chair of its Public Policy Committee for 2023.
From 2009 through 2019 Dr Ruotsi was the Medical Director of the Centers for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Catholic Health System in Buffalo, New York. While there he developed an educational curriculum in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine for medical, surgical and podiatric residents and had an active role as instructor and preceptor within the Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and Podiatric residency programs; for the Vascular Surgery Fellowship; and for medical, physical therapy and nursing students. During his ten years at Catholic Health he served as a wound care consultant within the 5 hospitals of the system and in 2015 he created and served as director of the Catholic Health Wound Care Fellowship.
He is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC), the Wound Healing Society (WHS), is a faculty member of the Wound Certification Prep Course, and lectures nationally and internationally on topics related to wound care and hyperbaric medicine.
