Dr Emily Haesler is Adjunct Professor with the Wound Management and Healing (WHAM) Collaborative at Curtin University, an Adjunct Associate Professor of Aged Care at La Trobe University, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Australian National University. She is an active Committee member for the International Wound Infection Institute and the World Alliance for Wound and Lymphoedema Care and a Wounds Australia Fellow.
Emily’s research interests include research methodology, particularly in evidence-based clinical guidelines, consensus methods, consumer surveys and qualitative research. She has extensive experience as a guideline methodologist in Australia and internationally and is the methodologist for the Pan Pacific Venous Leg Ulcer Guideline and the International Pressure Injury Guideline both currently in development), as well as other guidelines on wound care, wound infection and the Australian Wound Standards (2023). She has specific interest and expertise in wound-related research, consumer engagement, evidence reviews, social network analysis, translational research, accreditation and auditing, and education for healthcare professionals, including those in in middle- and low-resource countries. She has been involved in several consensus studies seeking to achieve agreement on terminology used in the fields of wound and stomal management. Emily has worked closely in increasing the involvement of stakeholders in clinical guideline development. This has included increasing both the engagement of experts in middle- and low-resource countries and the voice of patients and their families in the development of international guidelines.
