Matthew is a specialist dermatologist and a fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and practices privately in Geelong and Melbourne. In addition to private practice, Matthew is a consultant dermatologist at Monash Medical Centre and Box Hill Hospital. 

He completed his postgraduate medical degree at Monash University and was awarded the overall dux of his medicine degree. Matthew also completed an undergraduate degree in pharmacy at La Trobe University and was awarded the overall dux of his degree. Prior to entering the dermatology specialty training program in Melbourne he completed a Master of Philosophy with honours at Monash University on the research subject of melanoma and published several first author peer reviewed publications and he continues to maintain a strong interest in research. During his training Matthew was awarded the Adrian Johnson memorial prize for the best paper/ publication in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology by a College trainee as a lead author in a calendar year. In addition to this, he won the prestigious Harvey Rotstein Award for collegiality to his colleagues and dedication to his patients.
