He has also spent time following the completion of this qualification gaining further experience and training in the area of craniomaxillofacial surgery, training which he completed in world renowned centres in Australia and the US.
During his time in the United States, he was the craniofacial fellow at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Harborview Medical Centre in Seattle, Washington. There he managed patients with both congenital and traumatic craniofacial deformities refining his skills in maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery and adult facial trauma surgery.
Mr Snell undertook his basic surgical training in major centres in both New South Wales and Victoria with training in general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, vascular surgery, transplant surgery and trauma surgery. He completed his advanced training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in South Australia where he was trained in all facets of Plastic Surgery including hand surgery, microsurgery, head and neck surgery, breast reconstruction, craniofacial surgery and aesthetic surgery.
In addition to his clinical skills, Mr Snell has been an active academic surgeon with a special interest in adult facial trauma. Prior to completing his medical degree at the University of Sydney, Mr Snell completed a bachelor of science in which he was awarded first class honours for his research into brainstem physiology, work which he continued on a full time basis prior to starting his medical studies.
