Melissa Malu is the Manager of Pasifika Collections and Engagement at the Australian Museum.She is a Tongan and Fijian woman who has wide-ranging experience working with Pasifika communities in culture, social impact, and communications. Melissa has comprehensive people and operations management skills, as well as impressive community networks internationally and throughout the local Pasifika diaspora. She is an advocate in addressing the issue of Pasifika cultural appropriation, through promoting traditional cultural practices, working towards strengthening Indigenous knowledge within mainstream structures and frameworks.Melissa has extensive experience in Community development and has assisted Pasifika individuals and organisations with strategic and business development planning, to access vital support for cultural, arts and community programs. Melissa is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts in Cultural Leadership (NIDA), holds a Master of Communications (Griffith University) and Bachelor of Arts majoring in Social and Cultural Analysis (University of Western Sydney).
