William Leben

William Leben is a Melbourne-based analyst. He is a 2019 General Sir John Monash Foundation Scholar and holds an MPhil in Development Studies from Oxford. He previously served as an Australian Army officer, including on operations in Iraq. His eclectic research interests include climate change, colonial PNG, Australian foreign and defence policy, future war, power and culture within organisations, and much else. He has lectured, tutored and run training on topics ranging across climate change impacts, military modernisation, and issues of leadership and identity. Will is accordingly interested in silo-breaking and, elsewhere, is an aspiring author of fiction.
