Dr James Renwick AM 

Distinguished Adviser, ANU National Security College


Dr James Renwick AM was Australia’s 3rd Independent National Security Legislation Monitor, and is a leading expert on the law concerning national security, cyber, counter terrorism and countering foreign interference. He edited a special edition of the Australian Law Journal on these topics. He has taught part time at the ANU for over a decade. He was a Fulbright Scholar at SAIS, JHU. He practices at the NSW Bar as Senior Counsel. He is also a senior Naval reservist. In 2023 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia (General Division) for significant service to the Law and to National Security.
