Men's Practitioner, Bendigo & District Aboriginal Cooperative

Jamaal Cross is a proud Yorta Yorta man, working as the Senior Men’s Practitioner at BDAC. Jamaal’s work includes both the facilitation and case management within the Merrijig Mooroopook Program, working with men who use violence in their relationships. 

Jamaal has a Masters in Social Work, and has worked in Justice, facilitated Men’s Behaviour Change programs for Anglicare Victoria, and for the last five years has worked with participants in BDAC ‘s family violence programs. 

Jamaal is co-author of the Demarco-Cross Model: The disemPOWERed & out of CONTROL wheel, A trauma-informed approach to working with Aboriginal men. Jamaal is codesigner and presenter of the No to Violence/BDAC partnership training: Engaging Safely and effectively with men who use violence in First Nation communities.
