Bennelong Aboriginal Men’s Counsel

Ivan Clarke is a Paarkinji man (Darling River region NSW), a member of the Stolen Generation who works specifically with Aboriginal men through a trauma informed lens. Ivan is the Director Wiimpatja Training, Skills Development and Consultancy. Ivan designed the Strong Aboriginal Men’s Program for the Education Centre Against Violence NSW Health and delivered the program to 35 plus communities across NSW engaging in excess of 500 Aboriginal men.  Ivan is the Chairman of Board of Directors Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal OOHC service Western Sydney.

Ivan facilitates the Bennelong Aboriginal Men’s Counsel which is funded through the office of DCJ. Ivan has recently designed a series of Strong Aboriginal Men’s Program for the Rainbow Lodge, Walama Court construct. This program supports men with substance abuse issues to address their trauma and look at how trauma affects their attitude, behaviour, and lifestyle choices. Ivan has studied at Sydney University and is a qualified therapist registered with the Australian Counselling Authority. 

Ivan has a wealth of experience in working with Aboriginal Men who have experienced trauma through colonisation, intuitional racism, Stolen Generation, and social, emotional and wellbeing issues because of trauma. Ivan is a West’s Tiger support, aging cricketer, a life member of the Redfern All Blacks Cricket Club and is a registered actor and writer with numerous credits to his name.

Ivan lives on Bundjalung Country Northern NSW with his partner Rhonda and their two rescue Horses Crackers (Brumby) and Simka a companion Shetland Pony.
