Tony Morriss is Senior Director, Long Term Strategy in the investments team. In his role he undertakes research into longer-dated trends that impact investments such as the energy transition, inflation and interest rates and political and social trends such as ageing, globalisation and technology innovation. He is also part of the macro research team working on the economic and market outlook for Australia and the global economy.
He joined Australian Super in November 2022 from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Australia where he was chief economist. He has previously worked as global head of interest rate and currency research at ANZ, chief economist for NSW Treasury Corporation, market strategist for Bankers Trust Australia and Asia Bureau Chief for Thomson Financial. He started his career as a currency trader in the City of London.
He has a BA in economics and politics from the University of Exeter in the UK and a master’s degree in Government from the College of William & Mary in Virginia USA.
