Kit McMahon
Chair, Tradeswomen Australia 

Kit McMahon has over two decades worth of senior executive and Board experience.  Currently Kit is the CEO for a regional Women’s Health organisation in the South East of Melbourne (WHISE), that seeks to increase access and build inclusion for Victoria’ health system for women through health promotion, primary prevention and gender equity.  Kit has wide ranging experience in strategic planning, capacity and capability building, policy development, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, communications and government relations and workforce planning. In her current role at WHISE, she has lead work to implement gender equality reforms in organisations and across policy including developing gender equality strategies for local council, tourism agencies and health organisations. Kit has also led work to advocate and advance gender equality in Australia’s vocational education and training system including leading the work to apply an intersectional gender lens on Victoria’s first Skills Plan.

Before her role at WHISE, she was Chief Operating Officer for Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET),  CEO of Girl Guides Australia and General Manager at Service Skills Australia. In November 2022, Kit became National Co-Convenor of WAVE – Women in Vocational and Adult Education in October 2022 and is also currently Chair of Tradeswomen Australia Group, Deputy Chair of Volunteering Australia and until recently Chair of the Women’s Spirit Project. Kit was also the founding Chair of Victoria’s Peak organisation for Gender Equality – Gender Equity Victoria.

With qualifications in Arts (Hons), Master of Adult Education, an MBA and the AICD Company Directors Course, Kit also sits on a range of committees for primary health prevention and community development in the South East region ranging from the prevention of elder abuse, family violence,  equality in labour and skills and women’s health.
