Guyson Baker is a proud Torres Strait Islander Man - Zendath Kes Nation. He works in civil construction having spent his early career in QLD working on the rails - after not making it through his Butcher Apprenticeship! He then moved to Victoria to work on large civil projects and is now part of the West Gate Tunnel project contracted to John Holland. Guyson is also the National Indigenous Officer for his Union, The Australian Workers' Union. He is also the AWU's Representative on the ACTU Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Committee. In this role he is working to elevate the AWUs Voice to the union movement on all aspects where Indigenous members and workers need their voices heard. He is a proud advocate for the Recoginition in the pracitcal form of a Voice to Parliament Referendum and is using his role at the Union to advocate for members and the broader community to support a 'Yes' vote in the polling booths later this year.
