Rachel Crawford
WorldSkills Australia

Growing up with both her parents being chefs, Rachel developed a passion for food from an early age, particularly the sweet side of things. She eagerly started her apprenticeship in 2017 at CIT in Canberra, undertaking a Certificate III in Patisserie, swiftly followed by a Certificate III in Baking.

During her training, Rachel was introduced to the WorldSkills organization and encouraged to enter their regional Bakery competition in 2019. Despite facing challenges such as COVID-19 causing postponements and restrictions, her training institute stopped at nothing to ensure she could compete, holding the competition right on campus over a weekend.

Thanks to their unwavering support, Rachel won first place and made it onto Team Australia as one of the Skillaroos for the 46th WorldSkills Competition 2022, Special Edition in Lucerne, Switzerland. She proudly came home with a 4th place finish and a Medallion of Excellence in the bakery category, after competing against representatives from 13 other countries.

Since then, Rachel has been selected as an international ambassador of the WorldSkills Champions Trust, joining a team of former competitors who use their stories to inspire youth in skills worldwide.
