Marika Yarran is an Aboriginal Liaison Officer for Desert Blue Connect, and a proud Badimia /Ngadju Women from Southern Yamaji Country, Western Australia. Marika is a passionate advocate for victims of family and domestic violence and has 10 years’ experience in the Community Services Sector. As a victim survivor herself with 14 years lived experience, Marika believes that reconnecting to culture and regaining one’s cultural identity is the first step towards healing and holistic wellness for Aboriginal women and their families.

Marika designed and for the last 12 months has delivered a culturally safe program called the Desert Rose Aboriginal Women’s Resilience Program. The unique program specialises in addressing complex and compounded trauma for First Nation women through truth talking about the effects of colonisation, assimilation, Stolen Generations, and intergenerational trauma. Women who have completed the Desert Rose program have testified to being guided on a safe journey of self-discovery, inner-healing, contentment, unity, strengthened resilience and empowerment.
