Sakina Hassani

Panellist: Motivation for change: Benefits of in Language, in Culture interventions with perpetrators from migrant and refugee backgrounds

Sakina is a proud Hazara woman who emigrated to Australia in 2009. She has her Bachelor of Health Science and Social Work and Master of Human Rights Law.

Sakina has significant expertise in the Family violence sector Safe Steps Family Violence Response, Intouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence, and now as a leader at the Orange Door. Currently, Sakina is a Project Coordinator for' Safe and Empowered Families' for Victoria and NSW. Sakina is also a Research Assistant for Anti-Slavery Australia, the University of Technology Sydney, and is an expert in Forced Marriage.

Sakina has over 5 years of experience in Family Violence sectors including Shakti Women’s Support Group for over 3 years as a multilingual cultural diversity Case manager. Sakina has been facilitating the MFC programs since it started in 2018.

Sa runs workshops and provides consultation on Cultural issues and Family Violence including main issues within diverse communities.
