Reconcile Life

Spotlight: Healthy relationships from cultural perspectives

Namarca & Vikki Corowa are the Founding Directors of North Queensland based company Reconcile Life Pty Ltd.  Director and Lead Facilitator Namarca Corowa is both an Australian South Sea Islander, descendants of Queensland’s ‘Sugar Slaves’ from Melanesian Islands in the 1860’s and of the Kulganburra people of Yuwi Nation. Vikki Corowa’s (nee Gibson) family originated in England and Scotland in the 1860’s coming to Australia as Farmers and Engineers in the sugar industry.

The couple’s volunteer and professional work in their community with over 25 years on the ground experience between them, has given them hands on experience and local knowledge of their community along with their family histories.

In 2019 Reconcile Life was established to deliver camps on country, workshops, school programs and behavioural change programs from cultural perspectives.  Reconcile Life’s programs are attended and supported by local elders, traditional owners and their work is requested by both government and non-government agencies.  This is primarily because Reconcile Life is able to provide an alternative culturally appropriate approach to Domestic and Family Violence, Mental Health and Youth Justice Services from a “Grass Roots” level.  Reconcile Life’s programs are also open to and found to be valuable also to non-indigenous clientele.
