Professor Patrick O'Leary is an internationally recognised researcher he has conducted numerous complex research projects in Australia, USA, UK, Afghanistan, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Albania, Sudan, Nepal, and Lebanon for international clients including Terre des hommes, Islamic Relief Worldwide, and UNICEF. He has significant expertise in domestic violence/gender-based violence (with a focus on perpetrator intervention, integrated, differential, and intersectional responses), child protection, long-term impact of child sexual abuse (especially for men), social work, hope, and socially excluded young people. His work has focused on these issues in both high and low income countries. Currently, Professor O’Leary is a Chief Investigator for the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence Against Women where he leads a work stream on perpetrators and bystanders. He is also Co-Director of the Disrupting Violence Beacon at Griffith University.
