Maree Corbo

Tangentyere Council

Maree Corbo has worked with both victims and perpetrators of Domestic and Family Violence for over 20 years specialising in work with men who use violence in their intimate relationships.  It is in this context that in 2014 Maree came to Mparntwe (Alice Springs) to begin the first Men’s Behaviour Change program in the Northern Territory. and is currently the Co- Manager of the Family Safety and Social Services programs at Tangentyere Council in Alice Springs. Maree has instrumental in developing the Central Australian Minimum standards and accompanying practice guide alongside Doctor Chay Brown that prioritises the safety of women and children while also challenging violence and ensuring Men’s Behaviour Change programs in Central Australia are culturally safe. Maree works closely with the Town Camp residents who have local knowledge, experience and importantly a key understanding of the cultural strengths of their community and as a result takes a “ground up” approach to the development and continuation of programs within the Domestic, family, and sexual violence programs at Tangentyere Council.

Maree is the recipient of the 2013 Robin Clark Memorial award – Making a difference with children, young people, and families for her work with men who use violence.
