Leigh is a former Assistant Commissioner of Victoria Police who has since advised on cultural change, systems thinking and change and community engagement in government, NGO and commercial sectors. As Assistant Commissioner he led Statewide committees on system reform in family violence and sexual assault. Further work on gender equity including violence against women is with Australian Human Rights Commission in China; Commonwealth Government on national consultations on perpetrator intervention; and system reform in South Africa. In Melbourne with five leading research institutes, he worked on gender equity for women in science. Leigh was a member of the Commonwealth Governments Violence against Women Advisory Group for the first National Plan. He has also Chaired the Victorian Coroners Family Violence Systemic Death Review Panel and presently is a non-executive Board member of Domestic Violence Service Management NSW and Insight Exchnage.
In executive leadership Leigh is also an executive coach and works with executive leaders in the Victorian and Australian public services and as Adjunct Professor with the Australian Graduate School of Leadership supervises Doctoral (Leadership) candidates. Leigh is co-founder of Leaders who Listen, a consultancy project seeking how leaders can build the safety and space for authentic listening.
