Natalie Sommerville, lives and works on Ngadjuri Country in South Australia’s Mid North. She is a farmer, mother, mentor and a proud Torres Strait Islander woman. 

Natalie managers their farming business Windjara Ag with her husband Dane and 2 children and father in law John. They have been farming for over 15 years in collaboration with Danes family farm and their separated farming business. 

 Driven by her passion for sustainable agriculture, the environment and social justice, Natalie’s focus is on influencing positive change in rural Australia and seeing greater innovation, inclusion of gender and age, and respect for diverse backgrounds. She is passionate about sharing her farming, cultural and social knowledge and experiences to improve outcomes for both current and future generations. 

When Natalie is not farming she is mentoring Aboriginal students in local schools and assisting educators to deliver respectful First Nations histories, perspectives and cultural content in lesson plans. 

During her spare time Natalie volunteers on many community and industry boards at local, state and national levels include as President of Australian Women in Agriculture, President of her local Spalding Sports Association, PPSA GPSA NFF committees, SA Ag Excellence Alliance committee, Landcare Assoc SA, and the local NAIDOC committee.
