Professor Coralie English

Heart Foundation Future Leaders Fellow, Associate Professor, Physiotherapy, University of Newcastle, Deputy Director of the Priority Research Centre for Stroke and Brain Injury, Hunter Medical Research Institute and Senior Research Affiliate, Centre for Research Excellence in Stroke Recovery and Brain Repair.

Coralie currently leads a team of researchers whose work focuses on understanding the effects of physical activity, aerobic exercise and sedentary behaviours in people after stroke. She is an experienced physiotherapy clinician, having worked for many years predominately in the area of stroke and neurological rehabilitation prior to commencing her research career. 

Coralie’s earlier research work focused on methods of increasing therapy time and active task practice for stroke survivors receiving in-hospital rehabilitation, including the use of circuit class therapy and 7-day week therapy services. She is Co-Chair of the Content Development Working Group for the recently updated Clinical Guidelines for Stroke, and ongoing Living Stroke Guidelines project.
