49TH INTERNATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH NURSING CONFERENCE
10 - 12 SEPTEMBER 2025
Meeanjin, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre

The conference theme, Mental Health Nursing – Our Identity, Influence, and Impact, recognises that mental health nurses themselves have had to advocate to have their specialist skills recognised. We need to #SayOurName as we are not generalised nurses or mental health clinicians, we are mental health nurses. Our identity has lacked recognition however now is the time to demonstrate our contribution to safe, effective and specialist mental healthcare.

When mental health nurses are recognised and practice within their optimal scope of practice, we influence government policy, health care reform, lead services, work outside traditional health care settings, and are highly regarded.

This conference will honour our collaboration with the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives (CATSINaM) and Drug and Alcohol Nurses Association (DANA).

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, and we particularly acknowledge the Ngunnawal people as the traditional owners and custodians of land on which the College National Office stands. We recognise the important connection of First Peoples to land, water and community, and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
